This property was reserved by Freydis Fullasdottir I live on the windswept deserts of Arizona,USA and follow the Norse Spiritual Path as gythja of the Helga Ve Kindred. I have two children and married to the world famous Armourer and Swordsmith, Kirby D.Wise, who handforges in an authentic, smokey old blacksmith shop. I help him in his work by doing much of the research, creating the Artwork and decorating the weaponry when called for.

The Celts were not the only ones who had beautiful art nor were their art confined to just knotwork or even the later "The Book of Kells" style. It is my intention to show in following pages the wealth of Art and decoration the Norse developed and applied to even the most mundane of items. For example, the decorated bone "Flattening Board" (at left) was used to straighten the linen cloth after washing with a solid glass ball. The bone is from a Reindeer's shoulderblade and then carved to form stylized beasts heads. Viking Art is full of restless dynamic movement that mirrored their push to see what was beyond the horizon as merchants and explorers. What influences that may have touched their native designs, like the Frankish and Celtic, would be altered/adapted to fit and become entirely Norse. In the end, it would become a matter of who was influencing whom in the case of Celtic/Viking Artwork. Both can stand on their own merits as completely original but, as there is plenty of Celtic Art on the web, there is little about the Viking Artforms. In the meantime why not check out the link below to get your own 20MB of free webspace?
